PHILLIP CHUJOY'S CALENDAR 2025
In 2024, I was selected to collaborate on Phillip Chujoy’s 2025 Calendar, a project that brought together various artists to represent each month with a unique illustration. My contribution was for February, under the theme "Historic Peru."

For this piece, I drew inspiration from Downtown Lima, capturing the essence of its historic mansions, street food, pre-Hispanic culture, and the city's vibrant chaos. I aimed to convey Lima’s cultural richness through a bold color palette and an aesthetic influenced by chicha posters, a symbol of Peru’s popular identity.

This project allowed me to showcase my artistic vision of Lima and contribute my style to an initiative that celebrates Peru’s art and history.

Sketches & Initial Exploration
The process starts with a black line sketch, defining the composition and key elements of the illustration. At this stage, the focus is on capturing the essence of the idea without worrying too much about details.
Next, I create a second sketch where I refine the shapes and adjust proportions. I also introduce an initial color script, applying rough color patches to establish the overall mood and contrast of the piece. This step helps me visualize the color direction before moving on to the final details.
Final Render & Colors
In this stage, I apply solid colors, aiming for a bold and vibrant finish. The palette is heavily inspired by the neon-like, fluorescent tones found in chicha posters, a reference that brings an energetic and rebellious feel to the piece.
By refining the contrast and saturation, I push the colors to their limits, creating a striking visual impact while maintaining harmony in the composition. This final step ties everything together, bringing the illustration to life.
